The Refuge Golf Club

The Refuge was a great place to get married! The staff were so upfront about everything from the beginning. We talked about prices, available dates, and rain options all at the tour. We toured other places but were immediately taken in by their honesty and support. All of the staff there were amazing! We worked with Lisa as our coordinator and she was great to answer all of our questions leading up to the day - and we had a lot of them! They were easy to communicate with and we always got quick responses. We brought up possible ideas and scenarios and they made us feel comfortable while also giving their honest feedback and suggestions. They have done this so many times and seen it all so there isn't much that will phase them. We got so many compliments on the food and the overall service from the waitstaff and bartenders. The space itself was exactly what we needed with the ceremony under the gazeebo only a few steps from the main building. The flowers and overall landscape of the whole property was so beautiful and made for some amazing pictures. We got a perfect sunny day and the giant windows in the reception hall brought in so much light! We also asked for the string lights to be hung from the beams and they were also gorgeous. We had one small hiccup on the day where the photobooth we rented from them wasn't working properly. Lisa took it upon herself to tell us and find a new vendor if we approved. She found one the SAME DAY and made sure they had a meal and a seat. That could have been a huge bummer but she fixed the problem for us! They only have 1 getting ready room at the venue so we decided to get mostly ready off site and then just get dressed at the venue. The outside firepit and porch/tables were very appreciated by our guests so they had somewhere to be if they didn't want to be inside with the music all night. We brought corn hole to set up on the porch and it was a hit! Overall we would highly recommend this venue to anyone who wants amazing service and food at a beautiful venue for a price that was hard to find around the Twin Cities.

Well, it's been 13yrs since I've played this course. Wow! 13yrs later it's still the same Golf Digest 4.5 rating!! Unbelievable course conditions. Great pace of play(I was a single). Greens were fast and true. Fairways were mint shape for late July. Great price from Golf Now. Staff was nice but just fair like he didn't like his job and just went through the motions but still "nice". I know the owner Rick is VERY hard to work for so maybe that's why? Anyways I will definitely be back!! This IS the best course around here...only other track that can compare is TPC Blaine!! This is a gem hidden North of the city and I hope it stays hidden!! It's really that good!! Go try it if you're ever up this way you WILL not be disappointed!!

This course was a pleasure to play! The condition of the course was very good in most areas! Very well priced for the experience you receive here! They do have a couple niche holes but they don't take away from.the overall good experience! The par 3 are mostly bland and straight away but the length from the back makes up for that. Good practice area with a great bunker and well rolling green! The pro shop was a little cramped but not horrible. The staff were all polite and helpful. Looking forward to visiting again sometime!

Went for a wedding today, a beautiful setup outside on their patio. Dinner was a choice between steak or salomin, I had steak that was very good my son had salmon and loved every bit of it. Very good dinner, with potatoes a mixed vegetables and dinner rolls. Staff was professional and well organized they were moving 100mph whole time flawlessly. A very nice dining area. The shape of the room may not suit everyone, but it worked great for this wedding. I do want to just go for dinner one night to taste some of their other food optiins.

This is a really tough review because I like the course so much. But the pace of play on a Monday was just shy of five hours. I asked the clubhouse at the turn *two and a half hours in* if there was a Ranger to check stuff out and see if there were empty holes. The clubhouse said that the ranger was hanging out at the first tee. Can't be doing that when you have a reputation for slow play. Notice how NONE of these reviews talk about how difficult it is to get on the first hole. They all are about slow play. Get on the course, prevent back-ups.

They just overbook it and try to get as many people out as they hope to in a day, ranger drives around and does absolutely nothing to help pace of play, if you call the club house they just tell you “well what do you expect” so if you want to go out and play a 6 hour round and pay $80 to do so then this is the place to go! Absolutely ridiculous. Thank god no one was hurt in our group cause they couldn’t even get an ambulance out there with all the carts that were backed up on holes. Complete joke.
